AADAE RIVER OF TEARS

Full of afrobeat undertones, newcomer Aadae brings her Nigerian heritage to the forefront in debut single 'River of Tears'. Having been brought up in Peckham in an African-Christian family, there is a flavour of Western pop spun into the rhythmic drum beats. Encouraged into music by her mum as a way of staying out of trouble, Aadae says that artists such as M.I.A., Little Dragon and Fela Kuti were all played side by side and their effect seems to lasting. With a burgeoning scene in South London, this is one act who stands out from the crowd as she creates her own carnival sound. - SJ
